A Time For Peace:
The Blow-Ins
Wednesday 29th May, Doors Open 2.30 pm - Concert begins 3 pm
Would you like a little peace in your day? Join Bridget and Phil (aka The Blow-ins) for a unique experience in the beautiful setting of St Mary’s church. Within a space of silence held with care they play gentle duets on Celtic harp and guitar – music that varies from ancient folk tunes to contemporary jazz and their own compositions. With no explanation, announcements or applause, the music and the place can speak for themselves, enabling you to participate in a shared experience like no other, redefining the relationship between musician and audience.
The musical meditation will be followed by a conversation and Q&A with Rowenna Sommerville and the Blow-Ins about listening, music and meditation.
This event is free and playing for an hour. People are welcome to come and go as and when you please between pieces.
The Blow-ins blew in to Scarborough from different directions, having met on Iona in 2012. Chance threw them together playing in the ancient Abbey, and a musical friendship began that has developed into a lifetime relationship.
They make gentle acoustic music with Celtic harp, guitar and voices and are popular visitors at nearby folk sessions, also performing on local radio. They are known for original, high-quality music; their eclectic mix of old and new folk songs and mesmerising harp /guitar duets has been heard by a rapidly growing number of appreciative festival and folk club audiences across the country.
