News and information about Big Ideas By The Sea, to be held in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, UK between 16th and 24th July 2021.

Last week the government published its Covid-19 “roadmap”. The festival team has reviewed all options and we have decided to move the Big Ideas By The Sea festival to the weekend of 16th, 17th and 18th July 2021. We will also reschedule the Big Dig so that it will now take place the following weekend, 23rd, 24th and 25th July 2021.
The Big Ideas By The Sea programme will remain generally the same, but some of the speakers have prior commitments and cannot join us for this new weekend. We will invite them back in 2022.
The changes have given us the opportunity to be creative and develop our programme in new directions. We will now include streaming on-line of live events during the weekend. We will also record in advance and stream talks given by speakers from across the world. This is an exciting direction for the team for it means we can offer more world class content for the weekend.
We also hope we can now hold events with an audience, so watch out for news about revised arrangements for ticket sales. If you have already purchased a ticket, we will contact you separately and let you know what your options are, including full refunds if desired.
We are aware that the government’s “roadmap” may change again. If it does, we will ensure our arrangements follow all government guidelines.
We are very busy putting together the revised programme for July. Once this programme is finalised we will publish on the website and send direct to all Friends and Subscribers via an email.
