About The Speaker
Dr Magnus Johnson is a senior lecturer in Environmental Marine Science at the University of Hull and co-director of Northern Shores Marine Consultancy Ltd. He has eclectic interests from the eyes of deep-sea shrimps through to crustacean fisheries, restoration ecology and coral reef ecology. More recently he has become involved in local fisheries hoping to help them through the trauma of Brexit and to raise awareness of the importance of the industry along the Yorkshire coast. He has published over 50 papers/chapters/books in a 20 year academic career and currently leads the MSc in Environmental Change Management and Monitoring in Hull. Outside of his day job he is a member of Slow Food, board member for Invisible Dust and a councillor for Hackness and Harwood Dale parish council.
