The Big Reach Poetry Event with Charlotte Oliver

Monday 20th May, Doors Open 7pm,

event starts 7.30pm

Charlotte Oliver, our Festival Poet, will host a lively and entertaining mix of poets and musicians, exploring the sea, paradise, life, love, and the whole darn thing, using humour, warmth and hope to explore how we live in the world.

Doors will open from 7pm and there will be live music from 7.15pm and in between the poets. The poets will be Charlotte herself (published widely and placed in a number of national competitions; an Ilkley Literature Festival New Northern Poet 2023; her debut pamphlet is How To Be A Dressing Gown published by Dreich).

Rowena Sommerville (originally a writer and illustrator of children’s books; first adult poetry collection – Melusine - published by Mudfog 2021; featured in numerous poetry magazines; sang with and wrote for acappella band Henwen for over 30 years).

Felix Hodcroft (poet and novelist; poetry activist around Scarborough; took to poetry after a life of crime – well, working as a Probation Officer!).

Wendy Pratt (award-winning poet and prose writer; has published six poetry collections including the prize-winning When I Think of my Body as a Horse and with another due out this year – and also a non-fiction memoir out very soon).

It’s bound to be an interesting and stimulating evening of words and music.
