Future of Food
The future of food and food production is now high on the social and political agenda. Consumer demand, persuasion and interest has highlighted the need for sustainable grown products, local produce, animal welfare and ethically sourced produce. Fair Trade products add social value and a financial premium to the price. However, we have issues related to food waste, food poverty, food production and the carbon footprint of food. Do we have answers to these problems? Are they potential business opportunities? Should society have a moral position on food production, or should big business determine what we eat? What is the power of the consumer within the food chain? All provocative questions for the panel to consider and address.
